Betty moved from Gastonia North Carolina to
Central Florida in 1964. She worked as a hair
stylist for several years before starting her
antiquing career. In the mid 1970’s she decided
to purchase the Art Center Hair Styling Salon.

Even as a hair stylist and a business owner,
Betty also had a passion for antiques and
Collectibles. Her love of antiques started many
years ago as one of her mother’s best friends
was an antique dealer and would often tell her to
never throw anything away…..it could be worth
something.

In 1978, Betty started buying and selling some
items in her salon. She quickly learned that her
Mother’s friend was right. Betty instantly learned
she was a “Pack Rat” and decided to retire the
hair salon.

In 2002 Betty opened her first antique shop in
Sanford Florida. As her business grew along with
her passion for antiques and collectibles she
decided to expand her business and open up her
antique shop at Renningers in 2004.

You will find Betty and “A Pack Rat’s Dream”
located at Renningers in the “Street of Shops”
just outside the main antique building. Feel free
to stop by sometime as you will find all her
treasures and also be greeted with Southern
hospitality.
