You’ve heard the expression, “Give it the acid test.” This process begins
by rubbing some of the metal from the jewelry against the slate. It scrapes
the gold off like chalk on a board, yet so little gold rubs off that it doesn’t
damage the jewelry
Packaged in a beautiful and functional wooden box, this kit features three
test needles (10K, 14K, and 18K), testing acids (10K, 14K, and 18K), and
a touchstone. The acids come in sturdy plastic 12 gram bottles, which
maximize safety and allow the user to squeeze out a drop at a time. This kit
is very accurate at distinguishing between 10K, 14K, and 18K gold.
Directions for use are included.
We also carry acid for testing silver, platinum, nickel, and brass. Any of
these
acids and stones can be purchased individually.
