Diamond Testers are electronic instruments with a fine tipped probe that contact
the stone and convert the level of thermal conductivity into a positive or
negative test for Diamond.  Diamonds have very high thermal conductivity, so a
Diamond Tester is able to rule out all other simulants such as Cubic Zirconia,
YAG, GGG, etc. But beware; Moissanite (a mineral) is the only stone than can
fool the electronic diamond tester

Moissanite is a rare mineral that can be found in meteorites and in terrestrial
samples. It belongs to the carbon group and because of its similarity to
diamonds it is used as a replacement for diamonds in fashion and in science
applications.

When Moissanite was first introduced to the market it created a great deal of
publicity. This was due to the fact that Moissanite would often fool a jeweler into
thinking it was a natural diamond. Moissanite gemstones are such a close match
to diamonds that even skilled jewelers cannot tell the two apart. Both the Nova
and 20/20 TV news shows did segments featuring hidden cameras showing
jewelers fooled and embarrassed by Moissanite.

The only way to make sure it is a diamond, is to use an all-in-one tester for
Diamonds and synthetic Moissanite.  Choose this if you want the security of an
all-inclusive test in the convenience of a single instrument.

The DiamondNite is the first and only one step dual tester for non-diamonds
such as cubic zirconia, artificial Moissanite, or genuine diamond.  Just touch the
probe to the stone - no beep means it is a CZ or other fake, the first continuous
beep means diamond (green light), or if it is followed by a lower continuous
beep, then it's moissanite (red light).

The initial warm-up time is five seconds-the test itself takes only 1.5 seconds,
and recovery time between tests is an astonishing one second!
